Bespoke Media Wall Installation in Colchester

Project Overview

In December 2025, CJH Electrical completed a bespoke media wall installation for a customer in Colchester. The team transformed a redundant fireplace in their living room into a modern and stylish feature wall that brings together lighting, heating and entertainment in one clean design.

Media Wall Design and Layout

The client wanted a flush media wall that would make the television and fireplace the main focus of the room, whilst still feeling warm and inviting rather than clinical. Built in shelving was added on both sides of the wall to give space for decorative items, plants and ornaments, helping to soften the look and make it feel more homely.

LED Shelf Lighting Installation

A key part of this project was the installation of LED shelf lighting. Discreet LED strip lights were fitted neatly into the underside of each shelf to create a soft, even glow across the displays. This type of lighting adds depth to the media wall and creates a warm atmosphere in the room, especially in the evenings when the main lights are turned down.

Concealed Wiring and Power Supplies

All wiring for the shelves, television and fireplace were run inside the structure of the media wall, which successfully concealed them from view. Hiding the cables and power supplies within the wall allows the finished installation to look clean and built in, with no visible wires or surface mounted trunking.

Electric Fireplace Installation

The electric fireplace was installed centrally beneath the television to provide both a strong visual feature and a practical source of heat. It was connected to a dedicated electrical supply and positioned carefully so it sits flush within the wall. This creates a balanced layout where the fireplace and screen work together as one focal point.

Testing and Final Result

Once the installation was complete, all circuits and lighting were fully tested to make sure everything was operating safely and as intended. The result is a stylish, functional media wall that completely changes the feel of the living room.
